A Small Part of a Big Idea
This was the second Help-Portrait event that we have been involved in, and it was as great a feeling last night as it was last year! This year we worked with The Boys and Girls Club in Thurston County, tying into their holiday celebration. They had a feast, Santa, arts and crafts, and we were there to take family photos.
For those of you who don’t know what Help-Portrait is, it’s a GLOBAL movement of photographers using their time, gear and expertise to give back to those in need. I can’t think of a more fabulous thing for us to be a part of, pictures mean the world to our family and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t look back on the years of stories Aric’s camera has taken. To be able to share this with people that aren’t looking for anything, except that one photo that will be around for years. That they can share with their family and friends to remember this night and the kindness of strangers.
What an amazing family we have, all the kids involved in some way, putting aside their differences and working together, if even for a couple of hours. Derrick on the printing end, Taylor packaging the pictures, and Dannielle delivering the photos and having them sign the release forms. Loved listening to the conversations that took place between them and people they don’t know, but who were so grateful when that photo was handed to them.
To see the faces and watch the people stand in line for what is a simple family photo to us, but something they may have never had, was an amazing site to see. Also the feeling when they are coming to you and thanking you over and over, and telling you how much they appreciate someone doing this for them is priceless and there are no words to describe it. We are just thankful that God has blessed us with this talent and however we can use it to give something back to others is what we will continue to do.
Our oldest daughter Dannielle is graduating this year, she planned the whole event and coordinated with the Boys & Girls Club for her culminating project.

The Boys & Girls Club volunteers were a fun group. It was so cool to see how the kids loved each and everyone of them. So many great stories!!
