Last week Aric had the opportunity to take some new promo shots for the people that make up Salon Swish, a cute little salon located in the heart of downtown Tacoma in what is called the Theatre District. A bit artsy itself,  this salon fits right in with the graffiti garage, theaters, and back ally clubs that make up the Theatre District.

This high energy, work for themselves staff has a homey feel that just lets you come in, relax, and enjoy getting your hair done. If you are a bride looking for on location hair, look no further than one of these awesome ladies and guy.

Check out some of the shots from the salon and the awesome staff!

Something small can be something huge.

This is what The Adventure Project does; their mission is not to give money out, but to train people to learn a job and in turn train others to do those jobs and to be self sufficient. Each quarter they focus on one issue affecting global poverty and then present innovative, low-cost solutions to help.

Last week there was a benefit concert, put on by The Andrew Landers Project; if you have never heard of him, you are really missing out! People packed themselves into Traditions Cafe, in downtown Olympia, where there was literally standing room only! We all enjoyed some great music and learning more about how The Adventure Project got started. Here are a few of the photos and video from that night.

If you would like to learn more about this great cause, and how you can be a part of it, here is a link to their site.

A Small Part of a Big Idea

This was the second Help-Portrait event that we have been involved in, and it was as great a feeling last night as it was last year! This year we worked with The Boys and Girls Club in Thurston County, tying into their holiday celebration. They had a feast, Santa, arts and crafts, and we were there to take family photos.

For those of you who don’t know what Help-Portrait is, it’s a GLOBAL movement of photographers using their time, gear and expertise to give back to those in need. I can’t think of a more fabulous thing for us to be a part of, pictures mean the world to our family and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t look back on the years of stories Aric’s camera has taken. To be able to share this with people that aren’t looking for anything, except that one photo that will be around for years. That they can share with their family and friends to remember this night and the kindness of strangers.

What an amazing family we have, all the kids involved in some way, putting aside their differences and working together, if even for a couple of hours. Derrick on the printing end, Taylor packaging the pictures, and Dannielle delivering the photos and having them sign the release forms. Loved listening to the conversations that took place between them and people they don’t know, but who were so grateful when that photo was handed to them.

To see the faces and watch the people stand in line for what is a simple family photo to us, but something they may have never had, was an amazing site to see. Also the feeling when they are coming to you and thanking you over and over, and telling you how much they appreciate someone doing this for them is priceless and there are no words to describe it. We are just thankful that God has blessed us with this talent and however we can use it to give something back to others is what we will continue to do.

Our oldest daughter Dannielle is graduating this year, she planned the whole event and coordinated with the Boys & Girls Club for her culminating project.

The Boys & Girls Club volunteers were a fun group. It was so cool to see how the kids loved each and everyone of them. So many great stories!!

Old friends reunited…

We were very young when we lived next to Wendy, we were both just starting out really. Both of us with our oldest the same age, so we had lots in common and we would hang at each other’s house almost everyday; sharing coffee, bible studies, playing games, hanging with the kids, you name it we did it. We even got adventurous one spring and decided we wanted some nice grass for our kids to play on so we tore up the entire backyard and replanted! Looking back on it, I don’t know what we were thinking! Fun times for sure!

Well life happened and we both went our separate ways, and it wasn’t until recently through Facebook that we reconnected. We were quite honored when Wendy wanted us to do her family photos, so we headed up to Bellevue on what was a beautiful December morning for the shoot. We did their photos at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, a place that is special to them, as this is where Wendy and Clint come quite often for their anniversary get away. They love the feel and decor of the hotel so much, they thought what better place than this!

Lots and lots of different types of spots for shooting and we captured some great pics of them and the kids. Not only was it a great family shoot, but a great reunion while we laughed and remembered stories of the past.

The Class of 2012!!

Wow we can hardly believe another year has come around and we are now shooting the pictures for the graduating class of 2012, which includes many of the children our kids have grown up with. It also includes our own daughter, Dannielle, which we are having a hard time believing will be going off to college next fall.

These kids definitely have their own style, they like to think outside the box, and don’t want anything similar in pictures to what anyone else has. They are all unique in there own way, and are not afraid to show their own personal style, and we LOVE that!!

It’s not to late to book your session. Get more info @ www.AricBecker.com

Here they are in all their glory!!

The class of 2012 Senior Reps have a special place in our hearts, not only do we know many of these kids and have for years, but also our oldest is a part of this class, which we can hardly believe!!

The best part of shooting seniors is that they will tell you what they like and don’t like. You can find locations that fit them and they love to ham it up in front of the camera. This is what makes it so fun for us!!

So excited to finish up shooting these seniors before they make their ways off to college, work, or where ever the wind blows them; as well as all of the other seniors we will meet this year. Can’t wait to make some great memories for all of them!!

A girl who knows what she wants…..

This would describe Erica to a tea! She has every detail of the wedding planned out, even down to what type of photos she wants. She also has a eye for photography and when choosing who she wanted to shoot her wedding was very picky about who she would hire; she wanted someone fun and who had a creative eye, she wanted more than just the everyday wedding photos. What a huge honor that we were chosen for this task!

At the end of the engagement shoot this past weekend she said, “I knew when I met you, you had what I was looking for, and after today I am convinced that I have made the right decision by hiring you guys!!” What a huge compliment for sure. This is why we love what we do so much! Just trying to catch everybody’s day they way they envision it!!

It was a great day for photos that started at Chambers Bay Golf Course, which in itself is a fabulous place for photos, beautiful views of the Puget Sound, and gorgeous grounds.

Next, we were off to downtown Tacoma. Shooting around UW Tacoma, and The Glass Museum. The topper to the day was a stop at Harmon Brewery, where we stopped for a drink. This was the place for their first date, so it’
s a special place for the two of them.

We all had such a great time and we are looking forward to sharing the wedding day with them in October!
