Last week Aric had the opportunity to take some new promo shots for the people that make up Salon Swish, a cute little salon located in the heart of downtown Tacoma in what is called the Theatre District. A bit artsy itself,  this salon fits right in with the graffiti garage, theaters, and back ally clubs that make up the Theatre District.

This high energy, work for themselves staff has a homey feel that just lets you come in, relax, and enjoy getting your hair done. If you are a bride looking for on location hair, look no further than one of these awesome ladies and guy.

Cynthia was a bride like no other we have met before, just a go with the flow kinda girl. She was so laid back and just kinda let the day play out however it happened, and it turned out beautiful! She and her groom Tony couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful April day in Washington; warm and sunny, which is a rarity for this time of the year.

The day started out at Studio J Salon, one of our absolute favorites! Next it was off to their house where the guys and girls both got ready……both making sure that they didn’t see each other from different parts of the house. Then off to The Attic, in Sumner for a beautiful ceremony and reception. The turquoise and white color theme was absolutely stunning and a welcoming sign after our long winter. So many little details to this wedding from the table numbers placed in LOVE photo holders to little wedding bells to ring when you wanted the bride and groom to kiss.

Ceremony and reception was short and sweet, a wonderful celebration of the the union of two people who just really like to have a good time, while enjoying the company of family and friends.

Tony & Cynthia thank you for sharing your special day with us!

17 Years

Tomorrow we celebrate 17 yrs together as one. Funny thing about that is that we spent the first 15.5 years figuring out what exactly that meant.

We spent so many years just going through the motions; working, paying bills, and raising kids, that we really forgot about the two people who were the foundation of that family.

The best gift Aric bought me was a book called The 5 Love Languages. When we were at our bottom of the bottom, he gave me this book and let me tell you; how I thought I was showing him love was the complete opposite way he was receiving it. I was loving him the way I wanted to be loved. When I could see the words on the paper, I could then look in the mirror and say what can I do to save this marriage and the same was true for him.

When we both stopped thinking about ourselves and started thinking about each other that is when our marriage really began. We fought through the tough times and with God’s help proved to everyone, our children, and ourselves that when you say I Do, it is for a lifetime. You can’t give up and call it quits just because the other person doesn’t see things your way or you get hurt along the way. It takes two people to ruin a relationship and it takes three to keep it together; God has to be included or you will never know true happiness.

Here is to many more happier years together, just enjoying life and our time together! ~ Angie

1 + 1 = 3

Super excited that so many of our friends/clients are having babies!! Only a short time after sharing their wedding with them, we are now sharing in their joy of being new parents.

We love chatting with them, and seeing all of the great posts on Facebook from the pregnancy to the decorating of the nursery to the birth  and all the other firsts!

There is a joy seeing the smiles on their faces when they talk about all the excitement, not much different from the joy when the two of them became one.

Congrats go out to Katy & Loren, Stacy & Dave, Erin & Jakob, and soon to be parents; Kristen & Jimmy!

We are so excited to be rebranding our business as US; Aric & Angie!

When you are so passionate about something you want to make sure it comes across in the way you intend  it to, this is what branding is all about; showing your style! Up until now we have been operating under Aric Becker Photography, which works just fine, but this business for the last few years has been more about us, and not just Aric. Sure our clients know they get both of us, but why not just say it! WE are here for YOU!

This has taken us awhile to put all the pieces together, to decided to shift away the name everyone knows, and show who we truly are. Taking a leap with all four feet!

So please check out our newly rebranded site AricandAngie.com

We also launched a new facebook fan page we would be honored if you would LIKE it HERE

P.S. Since it is Valentines Day we are starting a contest in honor of our branding and LOVE of weddings. We are doing a Big Give Away…one free wedding to a lucky couple. You can find the details HERE. Please share with all your family and friends.

P.S.S. Thank you to the fabulous Jen Mcken Photo for taking our pictures!!!

Why are we in this business?

Why are your wedding photos so important us?

Because after all the guests are gone and the decorations are put away, these are all that are left. Photos of your wedding day are the only remembrance of the day you said “I do” , to the love of your life that will never be gone. They tell the story from the beginning to the end, they show every emotion of your day, even the ones you didn’t know you had until you see them. They spark the excitement that you felt that very special day, all over again when you see them for the first time. They also renew those feelings of love and joy every time you pull your wedding book out.

Your wedding photos are irreplaceable memories that can be shared with generations to come, I know I love to look back at my grandparents, while Grandma is telling me their love story for about the twentieth time, always with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

This very thing drives our passion for ensuring you get your entire day documented in photos, as when we look back on ours; yes we cry, but not because we are remembering a day just like we had envisioned, rather because we can’t believe we have a few snapshots that we were taken by a family member. A young couple with a young family, who were paying for their wedding on their own, who didn’t realize the value or the power of photographs. We hardly ever pull them out, we have shared them once or twice with our kids, and the story is always the same; we wish we would have saved money to have spent on our photos. Even with our wedding itself being just a small justice of the peace ceremony and a reception at a family member’s home, but even still the photos are no reflection of what we were feeling for each other on that day, or how happy we were to say “I do” and make our family complete. Hindsight is always 20/20 and we wish we knew a little than what we do now.

Family photos fill the walls of our home, but you won’t see a single one of the beginning of our lives together. Not even a 4×6 in a frame on the table, we keep them locked up tight in a box in the garage.

You never want to regret anything in your life, and if we could go back, we would. When prioritizing your day, think beyond the day, beyond the first year, beyond your memories of the day. Share your story of love with each other and generations to come, with a smile on your face and tears of joy in your eyes every time you pull out your wedding album.

Our wedding and life experiences has given us a different perspective on wedding photography which has developed our philosophy and pricing for our business.

These are our wedding photos, they are scanned and we don’t have the best scanner :) . We are glad we have something and appreciate our family for what they did do!

Mike and Sara’s wedding day was not only beautiful, but unique.

The ceremony was held at Olympia Golf and Country Club, in Olympia, WA. With it’s gorgeous views of Mt Rainer and the Puget Sound at it’s backdoor, who could ask for more!

The bridal party got ready for the day at The Phenix Inn , downtown Olympia. From there it was off to what we like to think is our “secret” location; a small dock tucked away on Capital Lake. This is where we did Mike and Sara’s first look. Then a skip over to Heritage Park for some fun pics with the bridal party.

There were some very cool things incorporated into their wedding like; have you ever seen a unity box? Well I hadn’t, it’s a box filled with things that the couple puts in, then locked up like a treasure box, to be opened again on a future anniversary. So cool!! Also, the officiant asked the guests to give advice during the actual ceremony, love that, as we need all the advice we can get in this adventure.

A few remaining shots at the end of the evening, on the golf course, it’s self, with a fabulous sunset against Mt Rainier, it really doesn’t get much better than that!!

Andy and Erin’s wedding, which was held at The Aerie Ballroom, in Centrailia, was full of some things that we have never experienced before; your dog as your ring bearer, some wedding party photos on motorcycles (thanks to Powersports Northwest), and lots of Swiss music!! This being said, all of that equals some great photos and so much fun, we could hardly stand it.

Their wedding was super simple, yet really fun and relaxed. The wedding party were troopers too, we walked around downtown Centrailia to get some really cool shots!

For a few last shots; we stole Andy and Erin away from the party, and went to a corn field about 10 minutes away, and in our driving realized that we had lived right next to Andy’s parents for several years and didn’t even know it!! Yet another example of how small the world is and how people cross paths in life not by chance, but by design.

We met Jason and Tara about a year ago, and they knew exactly what they wanted in a wedding photographer, they already had a plan in mind and we just helped them implement it.

They were married at The Attic, in Sumner, WA, on July 2 of this year, and it was truly a beautiful day! From the table decorations, which included actual fish, and different shades of green with some ivory flowers, to a mirrored cake table. It was just fantastic all the way around.

Sumner, WA is a small town, that has that small town feel. We were able to get lots of cool pictures at the train station and outside some of the shops.
