What will you do with today?

An extra day only every four years; what will you choose to do with it? Most of us will just treat it as any old ordinary day, some of us will groan because it was one day extra until payday or one more day added to our bills, and some of us will choose to make this day an extraordinary day!

In this life we can look at things from different angles we can choose the half empty or half full approach, if we choose the half full approach we can say it’s an extra day to do something kind for someone, an extra day of work to make more money, an extra day to tell someone we love them, an extra day to hug our kids, an extra day that we woke up with the chance to choose something great, an extra day to give praise to The Lord for letting us wake up on this day!

I think we are given this day as an extra day to let us see that everyday can be like this, but we all get stuck in our routines of daily life and forget this, God gives us this extra day only every four years to ask ourselves the question that we should be asking ourselves everyday; what will you do with your extra day? ~ Angie

Car maintenance and marriage

What, you ask does one have to do with the other, well nothing in the small picture, but if we look at the big picture; EVERYTHING!

I have been thinking about it a lot over the last several days, after having to decide whether or not to fix our old vehicle; by the way we just finished paying it off, or buy a new one. Well eventually buying a new one was the way to go since it would have been more to fix the old one than it was worth.  Looking back on it, we did do regular oil changes and the little things to keep the car running, but really neglected the pieces that would have kept it running even longer, like the regular tune ups, etc, etc.

I believe this is the same with our marriages, in the beginning when the marriage is new we are so excited to wake up next to that person everyday, and laugh, joke, and live life with our mate.  After a few years we start going through other phases of our life; jobs, bills, buying homes, having babies, etc. We start to wake up everyday and start going through the motion of everyday life while we forget what we had in the beginning.

We forgot the maintenance part of the relationship, the need for talking about things that matter to the other one, the need for dating at least once a month to reconnect and enjoy each other company, the need to just hold each other and enjoy being held, and the need to know each other’s love language; the language by which we all give and receive love. If we could only remember that feeling we first had in the beginning of the relationship for the whole life of the marriage, the marriage would far outlast anything else. It would truly stand the test of time and live up to the “death do us part”

If we could only take care of our partners in the same fashion as we do as a new car; washing it every week, detailing it once a month, polishing it once a year, rotating the tires, and getting the milage inspections done. We could say I love you everyday, maybe more than once, kiss each other before we went to sleep, write love notes to each other once in a while, go out at least once a month, and take a trip when ever possible. This is a hard lesson to learn, some of us figure it out and some of us never do. As for me I will say the little bit of time, energy, and money that goes into the maintenance of both is worth it for the long term of both. We all need to remember that we only get out of things what we put into them. ~ Angie

US on the other side of the camera

February 16th, 2012

The greatest things in our life have been captured through photos, so why is it so hard for us to be on the other side of the lens? We tell others all the time “just be yourselves”, “pretend we aren’t here”, the truth is that it is much easier to say it than to do [...]

We tell others all the time “just be yourselves”, “pretend we aren’t here”, the truth is that it is much easier to say it than to do it.
I have to say though for as much as we dislike being in front of the camera, we had a great time with Jen McKen, she is so silly and makes you feel so comfortable that you can’t help but laugh and smile.
We had a great time showing her around Seattle, grabbing a bite to eat, and getting some great shots of us! We are so glad to have some updated images of us for our new website and branding, that show us!

Mind you, that it’s difficult for me to say, as like most of us, I am my own worst critic. ~ Angie

We are so excited to be rebranding our business as US; Aric & Angie!

When you are so passionate about something you want to make sure it comes across in the way you intend  it to, this is what branding is all about; showing your style! Up until now we have been operating under Aric Becker Photography, which works just fine, but this business for the last few years has been more about us, and not just Aric. Sure our clients know they get both of us, but why not just say it! WE are here for YOU!

This has taken us awhile to put all the pieces together, to decided to shift away the name everyone knows, and show who we truly are. Taking a leap with all four feet!

So please check out our newly rebranded site AricandAngie.com

We also launched a new facebook fan page we would be honored if you would LIKE it HERE

P.S. Since it is Valentines Day we are starting a contest in honor of our branding and LOVE of weddings. We are doing a Big Give Away…one free wedding to a lucky couple. You can find the details HERE. Please share with all your family and friends.

P.S.S. Thank you to the fabulous Jen Mcken Photo for taking our pictures!!!

We headed out for some fun in the historical town of Steilicoom, WA. This little town, that sits right on The Puget Sound, has lots of fun old buildings, museums, and the cutest soda shoppe.

Super excited for their August wedding, headed to Mount Rainier for an outdoor wedding in the woods!!

Next stop Sandy Beach, they got pretty adventurous here, going barefoot during January in Washington, CRAZY!

Final destination ; downtown Tacoma. Graffiti garages, chalk art on brick walls, reflections in the puddles, and a pirate shop, what else could one want!

Where do the years go?

I am sure this is a question all parents ask themselves, especially on milestone birthdays. This year not only did we have one child celebrating a milestone, but three!! Now I ask you is that even fair to put parents through that many emotions all in one year? Lol!

Dannielle turns 18 today for goodness sake!! We can hardly believe that we have an official adult in the house.

Aric & I both pretty young when we had her, and like most young couples were short of finances, and knowledge of what the real world was like; the one thing we did know was that we had this beautiful baby girl, who knew no difference. She never knew our struggles and always woke with a smile on her face, we always would say to each other, ” it is impossible to have a bad day when you look at our girl!”

So many joys have been brought to our lives, since the day The Lord blessed us with her presence, and we are so proud of all her many accomplishments this far in her life, and can’t wait to see all the greatest that come to her for the rest of her years.

Happy 18th birthday to our sweet baby girl Dannielle!

Why are your wedding photos so important us?

Because after all the guests are gone and the decorations are put away, these are all that are left. Photos of your wedding day are the only remembrance of the day you said “I do” , to the love of your life that will never be gone. They tell the story from the beginning to the end, they show every emotion of your day, even the ones you didn’t know you had until you see them. They spark the excitement that you felt that very special day, all over again when you see them for the first time. They also renew those feelings of love and joy every time you pull your wedding book out.

Your wedding photos are irreplaceable memories that can be shared with generations to come, I know I love to look back at my grandparents, while Grandma is telling me their love story for about the twentieth time, always with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

This very thing drives our passion for ensuring you get your entire day documented in photos, as when we look back on ours; yes we cry, but not because we are remembering a day just like we had envisioned, rather because we can’t believe we have a few snapshots that we were taken by a family member. A young couple with a young family, who were paying for their wedding on their own, who didn’t realize the value or the power of photographs. We hardly ever pull them out, we have shared them once or twice with our kids, and the story is always the same; we wish we would have saved money to have spent on our photos. Even with our wedding itself being just a small justice of the peace ceremony and a reception at a family member’s home, but even still the photos are no reflection of what we were feeling for each other on that day, or how happy we were to say “I do” and make our family complete. Hindsight is always 20/20 and we wish we knew a little than what we do now.

Family photos fill the walls of our home, but you won’t see a single one of the beginning of our lives together. Not even a 4×6 in a frame on the table, we keep them locked up tight in a box in the garage.

You never want to regret anything in your life, and if we could go back, we would. When prioritizing your day, think beyond the day, beyond the first year, beyond your memories of the day. Share your story of love with each other and generations to come, with a smile on your face and tears of joy in your eyes every time you pull out your wedding album.

Our wedding and life experiences has given us a different perspective on wedding photography which has developed our philosophy and pricing for our business.

These are our wedding photos, they are scanned and we don’t have the best scanner :) . We are glad we have something and appreciate our family for what they did do!
